Disaster Averted!
Yay! Got the call today from the computer repair shop that the hard drive is ok and all the info on it can be backed up to another hard drive! The power supply is shot however and because it's a Dell and you can only get a Dell power supply for it, it would cost bookoo bucks to fix so we are foregoing the latter.

Whew! We just got an external hard drive. With 2 laptops and a desk top, we have LOTS of stuff that we don't want to lose. Hubby especially, with all his music, etc.
